Girl Scout Program
The Girl Scout program can change the way girls see their world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork and the thrill of accomplishment.
The Girl Scout program encourages girls to discover, connect and take action concerning the world around them.
Girl Scouts are divided into troops and groups at the following levels:
- Daisy Girl Scouts (kindergarten)
- Brownie Girl Scouts (grades 1 – 3)
- Junior Girl Scouts (grades 3 – 6)
- Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts (grades 6 – 12)
Girls in any of these age levels may participate as Juliette Girl Scouts. Juliette Girl Scouts are registered on an individual basis rather than as part of a troop.
What do Girl Scouts do? The answer is almost anything a girl would like to do!
The Girl Scout program is girl-driven, reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of participating girls. It provides girls ages 5-17 with a wide variety of opportunities and activities available in Girl Scout handbooks, award books, the Girls Only and STUDIO 2B websites, and other program resources.
The program encourages increased skill-building and responsibility, and also promotes the development of strong leadership and decision-making skills. All program activities are age-appropriate.
Daisy Girl Scouts
Just for girls in Kindergarten!
Daisy Girl Scouts is a great introduction to Girl Scouting for girls and families. Daisy Girl Scouts earn Daisy Petals by learning what it means to live by the Girl Scout Law.
Daisy Girl Scout troops learn to work together as a team. They discover what they can do to make the world a better place, and they go on field trips close to home to learn more about their community!
Brownie Girl Scouts
Grades 1-3
Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other is gold! Brownie Girl Scout badges are called Try-Its, and you earn them for trying new things. Have a balloon race to learn how rockets fly, make your own tie-dye t-shirt, learn all about animals, whatever you like! You can go on your first campout, make S'mores over a campfire and study the stars!
In Brownie Girl Scouts you get to help decide what your troop will do.
Junior Girl Scouts
Grades 3-6
Get ready for some real fun as a Junior Girl Scout! Whether you are just joining or have bridged up from Brownies, you'll find lots more things to do. Now is your chance to help decide what your troop does and where you want to go.
Like nature? Hike the trails and camp out. PLUS you get the chance to make a real difference - at home, at school, and in your community. Walk the walk and you're on your way to earning your Girl Scout Bronze Award.
Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts
Grades 6-12
Girl Scouts in grades 6-12 may identify themselves as Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts or as members of STUDIO 2B. Girls in this age group take the lead in all activities, from service projects to personal development to travel. As an older Girl Scout member, you might:
- Work at many different events as a “Program Aide”
- Visit the Girl Scout World Center “Our Chalet” in Switzerland.
- Create a service project to fill a library in Africa with books for teens.
- Earn Interest Project Patches, Focus Charms, the Girl Scout Silver Award and the Girl Scout Gold Award.
